New Lyric Choir Welcomes Singers with Special Needs

Author: Mark Doerries

The Notre Dame Children’s Choir has initiated a new choir for singers with special needs, the Lyric Choir.

Description:
The Lyric Choir focuses on singing and experiencing sacred music in a welcoming choral community, musical instruction specifically geared to meet the abilities of students with physical, social, emotional, and/or intellectual challenges.

This new choir is respectful and sensitive to the individual needs of the members of the choir with respect to intellectual development, communication abilities, spatial needs, and developmental diversities. This choir is not performance oriented. Performances will be scheduled as appropriate in non-pressure community environments.
