Sacred Music at Notre Dame is excited to announce that the Notre Dame Children’s Choir’s recording O Emmanuel debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Traditional Classical Music Chart!

O Emmanuel was commissioned by the Notre Dame Children’s Choir from DMA conducting student and GRAMMY Award-winning pianist J.J. Wright. Premiered in December of 2015 in South Bend, IN, O Emmanuel was recorded by Five/Four Productions and with the aid of the Dynamic Catholic Label and in collaboration with the J.J. Wright Trio, Fifth House Ensemble of Chicago, and under the direction of Dr. Mark Doerries. O Emmanuel is an Advent and Christmas cantata scored for jazz trio, chamber orchestra, children’s choir, and child and adult soloists.

In addition to reaching the #1 position on the Traditional Classical Music Billboard Chart, the album reached #3 for all Classical Music Charts, #10 for the Christian Album Chart, and #28 for the Holiday Album Chart.

The classical music column Slipped Disc reported the news that O Emmanuel and Joyce DiDonato's new album In War an Peace were the only classical albums recently to sell more than 2000 albums in a single week.
